Passionate About Inspiring Others

The more I reflect on my roots and origins as a physical therapist it has become very evident that my form of viewing the body is a blend of my mother and father.  Growing up I had unique experiences with both of my parents.  My mother is more “old school” as she stressed sitting and standing with good posture.  I remember as teenager while in the front at church, pulling my shoulders back after my wife cued me of my posture.  Never verbally spoken but always visually cued.  My father on the other hand built my understanding of correct form when lifting weights.   When I was in high school, I started getting interested in lifting weights.  At this phase of my father’s life, he was also very interested in weightlifting.  We would go into the basement of our NYC home where there was a rickety old bench for bench pressing.  I remember lifting a lot of weight, so much so that it surprised my father.  After he corrected my technique, amazingly I had the drop the weight in half.  These interactions taught me the importance of both form, posture and the impact it can have on importance.  Since then while working out I started to focus more on these factors to avoid injury and maximize quality of my exercises.  Now as a physical therapist and personal trainer I can do for my clients what my parents did for me as a very young man.

PT on a Budget website represents the amalgam of Physical Therapy, Personal Training and Health Coaching.  This concept of combining all services came out of a necessity from my clients over the years.  Many times my clients would complain about being overweight, obese and the negative implications there weight had on their pain.  Unfortunately the way health care works the focus on my care would be the knee pain.  I would forego the opportunity to use my collective knowledge to address their weight loss.  This to me is a major injustice to providing quality care and it also reinforces the negative aspects of specialized care which is the inability to see the forest from the trees due to the limitations of scope of practice.  With this website I also hope to have a community to explore all avenues of management of your condition.  Consider this website as an encyclopedia for those who are interested in self-management of their condition once discharged from their medical professionals.  As a member of PT on a budget community, there will be many ways to move from injury, rehab to recovery to maintenance phase.  Plans to stay in the maintenance phase.
